Tecie Turner-Newman, CSW-PIP
Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, McPherson College, 2011 | Master of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh, 2013
Tecie bridges the gap between the mind/brain and body, helping clients understand how life’s challenges — from chronic stress to trauma —manifest as physical sensations. With a comprehensive educational background spanning the physical health sciences and mental health, she views each person through a lens of their unique nervous system. Tecie’s diverse clinical history includes community mental health, refugee resettlement, mindfulness-based school and correctional programs, and hospital settings; these experiences have informed her deep understanding of how history shapes present well-being.
Tecie’s approach in psychotherapy is deeply rooted in research and the “science of feeling,” blending Psychodynamic and Gestalt therapies with Emotionally Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Attachment Neuroscience. By integrating somatic practices such as Hakomi Mindfulness and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), she helps clients rewire neural pathways and shift long-held beliefs. She is passionate about supporting others as they navigate the journey of feeling truly grounded and at home in their bodies.
Tecie is licensed in both South Dakota and North Dakota. She sees clients in-person in Rapid City and offers telehealth in the surrounding areas.
