Tecie Turner-Newman, CSW-PIP

Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, McPherson College, 2011 / Master of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh, 2013

Tecie has a unique educational background in both the physical health sciences and mental health. She has valued all of her career experiences in community mental health settings, mindfulness-based programs, refugee resettlement, and hospital settings. These experiences have helped her explore how chronic stress and trauma influence health and physical sensations. She views each person through a lens of how their relationships and experiences have shaped their nervous system.

Tecie’s approach in psychotherapy is client-centered and always based on current research. In her graduate program, the foundation of her clinical work was focused on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Gestalt Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy. In her years of experience since then, that background has been enhanced by her training in areas such as Pain Neuroscience Education, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Attachment Neuroscience, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Hakomi Mindful Somatic Therapy. She is passionate about utilizing these skills to help others feel grounded and well in their bodies.

Tecie is licensed in both South Dakota and North Dakota. She sees clients in-person in Rapid City and offers telehealth in the surrounding areas.
