Conditions We Treat

Specialized Care for Chronic Pain, Anxiety, Functional Neurological Symptoms and Nervous System-Related Conditions

Symptoms that affect the body and nervous system are not always easy to explain or fit into a single diagnosis. Black Hills Somatic Solutions provides neuroscience-informed care for chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, functional neurological symptoms, and other conditions influenced by the brain-body connection. Explore the conditions we treat below to better understand your symptoms and learn how our approach may help.

OUR APPROACH

You’re More Than a Diagnosis

A diagnosis is only one piece of the picture. At Black Hills Somatic Solutions, we take the time to understand your experience, your history, and what you hope to accomplish in treatment rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

We look at the relationship between your brain, body, and nervous system to better understand the factors that may be influencing your symptoms. By combining neuroscience-informed therapy with compassionate, individualized care, we create treatment plans designed around your needs and focused on helping you make meaningful changes.

OUR SPECIALTIES

We provide specialized care for Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and related neurological symptoms that occur without evidence of an ongoing structural neurological disease. These symptoms are real and reflect changes in nervous system functioning. FND is not imagined or “all in your head” – it is a recognized condition involving the brain-body connection.

We help people experiencing:

  • Functional neurological symptoms
  • Nonepileptic seizures (PNES)
  • Tremors
  • Weakness
  • Gait changes
  • Sensory symptoms

Some individuals may know FND by the older term “conversion disorder.” Today, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is the preferred terminology because it better reflects current understanding of how the nervous system functions.
