About Black Hills Somatic Solutions

WHO WE ARE

Understanding the Whole Person, Not Just the Symptoms

At Black Hills Somatic Solutions, we believe your symptoms deserve to be considered in the context of the whole person. Every individual’s experience with chronic pain, anxiety, stress, or other persistent symptoms is different. That’s why we look at the connection between the brain, body, and nervous system alongside your history, experiences, and goals.

Black Hills Somatic Solutions was founded to bring together modern neuroscience and compassionate, individualized mental health care. We believe that understanding how the brain and nervous system respond to stress, pain, and life experiences can offer another way forward– one that validates what you’re experiencing while helping you develop new ways of responding.

When you’re living with persistent pain or symptoms that are difficult to explain, finding the right care can feel frustrating and overwhelming. You’re not just looking for another temporary solution. You want someone who will listen, take your experience seriously, and help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO HEALING

Our Mission

Our mission is to help people better understand and navigate the connection between the brain, body, and nervous system through compassionate, neuroscience-informed care. We are committed to validating each person’s experience, providing clear and meaningful education, and creating individualized treatment that helps people feel more confident in their bodies and take an active role in their care.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

More Than Symptom Management

At Black Hills Somatic Solutions, we believe effective care starts with understanding. When symptoms are persistent or difficult to explain, it can be easy to focus solely on managing the next symptom or finding the next solution. Our approach looks more broadly at the patterns connecting your experiences, your nervous system, and the way your brain and body respond.

Education is an important part of that process. When you understand why your nervous system may be responding the way it is, symptoms can begin to feel less confusing or frightening. Therapy then becomes an opportunity to develop new skills, build awareness, and practice different ways of responding.

OUR APPROACH

The Brain-Body Connection in Practice

The brain and body are constantly communicating. Your nervous system responds to what you experience, takes in information from your environment, and helps prepare you to respond to stress or potential danger. These protective responses are important, but sometimes they can become overly sensitive or remain active longer than necessary.

Our approach considers these patterns alongside your individual history and circumstances. We use neuroscience-informed education and evidence-based therapies to help you recognize what may be happening, develop new responses, and feel more confident navigating your symptoms.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Specialized Care With a Personal Approach

We know that choosing a therapist is about more than finding someone with the right credentials. It’s also about finding someone you feel comfortable with and a setting where you can be heard.

At Black Hills Somatic Solutions, we prioritize individualized care and meaningful therapeutic relationships. We take time to listen, explain what we’re seeing, answer your questions, and involve you in decisions about your treatment. Rather than applying the same approach to everyone, we adapt our treatment to you.

Personalized Care

Treatment is shaped around your experiences, goals, and preferences.

Clear, Meaningful Education

We believe understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms can help you feel more confident in your care.

A Collaborative Relationship

You are an active participant in treatment, not simply someone receiving a predetermined plan.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Experienced Clinicians, A Shared Approach

Our clinicians bring different backgrounds, training, and areas of expertise to their work, but share a common commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care. Together our team brings a range of perspectives to understanding the complex relationship between mental health, physical symptoms, and the nervous system.
